    Audemars Piguet, the vaunted manufacture from Les Brassus, wasn't doing so well at the end of the 1960s.  

    Their horological prowess aside, times were changing, customer tastes were evolving, and AP was stuck firmly in a very traditional past. Fortunately for us, their executives recognized this, and bet it all on the launch of an avant garde timepiece the likes of which the world had never seen.

    Utilizing the talents of a designer named Gerald Genta, AP planned from the beginning to make this new watch, dubbed the Royal Oak, a contradiction to tradition, and it became the world's first luxury sports watch — made in stainless steel, no less. The gamble paid off: Genta became a household name, and the watch world clamored to get their hands on the Royal Oak’s cutting-edge design, which featured a sharply angled watch with integrated bracelet, micro-tapisserie dial, and ultra-thin movement. Today, 50 years later, hunger for the Royal Oak remains unabated.

    This particular Royal Oak, a reference 14800, dates to the late 1980s/early 1990s. Housed in a 36mm 18K yellow gold case with matching, integrated black leather alligator strap and signed, stainless steel and yellow gold deployant clasp, it features a luminous, white micro-tappisserie dial with yellow gold baton indices and matching handset; a signed crown; a sapphire crystal; and the Audemars Piguet Calibre 2125 automatic movement. 

    Well sized, svelte and dressy, this is the type of Royal Oak that works dressed up or down, no matter the occasion.

    OVERALL CONDITION

    The case and bracelet are in very good condition throughout showing light polish and faint wear from careful use. White micro-tapisserie Tritium dial is in equally excellent condition with matching handset. Unsigned crown.

    10-Day Returns For Timepieces:

    Timepieces purchased online can be returned or exchanged within 10 days from when they are shipped or collected.

    30-Day Returns For All Other Purchases:

    All other online purchases can be returned or exchanged within 30 days from when they are shipped or collected.

    On presentation of the original receipt, your purchases may be returned or exchanged at any of our store locations. Alternatively, you may elect shipping to our facility with all the original paperwork. All refunds must be credited to the same tender used for the original purchase. To return the online purchases through secure shipping service, please contact our client service team who will provide you the shipping label.

    All returns or exchanges must be in new, unworn condition, with no scratches or markings, not sized or adjusted and in their original packaging and with warranty cards / certificated and instruction booklets.
