Hublot Introduces Three Stunning New Additions to its Big Bang Collection
By Amanda Evans | 4 minute read
Founded in 1980, Hublot has become globally renowned for revolutionising the watchmaking landscape with its innovative and extraordinary designs that embody the “art of fusion”. Whilst respecting the art of traditional watchmaking, Hublot combines innovative design using the latest materials and manufacturing techniques to create the ultimate in stylish and sophisticated timepieces.
The Hublot Big Bang collection is no exception. Constantly reinventing itself, the collection embraces both industrial and contemporary design and dares to be unconventional. Combining cutting-edge materials with striking aesthetics, the Big Bang collection offers much more than performance, precision, and functionality.
As a watchmaking brand that is consistently ahead of the curve and committed to the vision of Haute Horlogerie, Hublot has not disappointed us with its striking new additions to the Big Bang collection unveiled at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2021.
Less is More
They say less is more and the new Big Bang Integral Tourbillon Full Sapphire is just that. Perhaps the ultimate expression of the “art of fusion”, Hublot has pushed the boundaries once more by creating a new integral bracelet and case custom-made from sapphire. This full sapphire reconstruction in its entirety has achieved a goal of removing almost all visible screws whilst reworking the overall geometry of the case to integrate it with the sapphire bracelet. This creates and illusion of the bridges and main plates being suspended in space and grants ultimate transparency to view the HUB6035 automatic manufacture calibre. The bracelet has its own complexity, comprising 165 components, a third of which were specially designed to complement the transparency of the case. The newly developed titanium inserts ensure a minimalistic look with no protrusions either side of the bracelet links – a manufacturing first for Hublot and quite possibly watchmaking.
The Big Bang Tourbillon Full Sapphire really is a sight to behold as well as a technical feat and we love how the light can enter the heart of the watch from all angles, revealing the inner most secrets of this work of art.
The Future is Yellow
Against all odds, Hublot have mastered the creation of a perfect Pantone yellow match in their new Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic ceramic watch. Made from a triple patented high-tech ceramic material, developed and produced by Hublot’s R&D department and its Metallurgy & Materials laboratory, Hublot has achieved the impossible by creating the first bright yellow ceramic, known as Yellow Magic. Limited to just 500 pieces, the Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic harnesses the sunny side of life with its invigorating yellow colour also featuring on the flange, indexes, minute and seconds counters, Arabic numerals, and hands. These are all an eye-popping accent to the Unico HUB1242 manufacture movement that is visible through the transparent dial in all its glory.
If you’re a fan of sports watches then this timepiece echoes that trend with a sunny and optimistic vibrancy that exudes contemporary style and happiness.
A Ceramic Trio of Timepieces
Hublot and Sang Bleu have collaborated once again to reveal a trio of new limited-edition ceramic timepieces. The Big Bang Sang Bleu II Ceramic is now available in blue, grey and white, a continuation of the All Black original version. Designed by Maxie Plescia-Buchi, Founder of Sang Bleu, each piece has a radical design with multidimensional appearance. The three colours of ceramic reflect a new perspective of the architecture of the watch with the case, bezel, case middle, strap and dial all constructed with their own geometrical identity. The grey ceramic piece is reminiscent of 21st century great urban structures with shades of grey, created by its geometry, evoking industrial materials. The blue represents a clear nod to the name of the piece (Sang Bleu) used to describe nobility within historical literature, and the white is a simple yet mesmerising mirror image of last year’s All Black version.
Each available as a limited edition of 200 pieces, the Big Bang Sang Bleu II Ceramic will appeal to clients who embrace the unique identity created by the stunning geometry of the ceramic facets.
