The Most In Demand Watch Brand Ambassadors of 2022
The best watch brand ambassadors just seem to make sense.
Take Daniel Craig and OMEGA, for example. It’s hard, now, to imagine the actor and the character without an OMEGA Seamaster on his wrist: Craig’s values and ethos perfectly aligning with OMEGA’s as if it was a match made in heaven.
Ambassadors are powerful tools for brands, and not least in the world of horology. And so, as more familiar faces join forces with our luxury watch brands year after year, we’re assessing the most in-demand and sought-after watch ambassadors of 2022.
Tom Brady – IWC Schaffhausen
Tom Brady is known for his heroic exploits as a quarterback in American Football, but another well-documented love in his life has always been watches. When he first ‘made it’, per se, as a young quarterback in the NFL – Brady went out and bought two watches. As it turned out, one of those was an IWC Schaffhausen timepiece.
Brady came full circle in 2019, almost 20 years after his first purchase, and joined IWC Schaffhausen as an official ambassador for the brand. He’s been seen during many momentous career events wearing an IWC, including when he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and during the Super Bowl LV celebration.
This 2022, Brady and IWC Schaffhausen came together once again after the release of the new TOP GUN collection at Watches and Wonders in Geneva. The seven-time World Champion quarterback is shown wearing different versions of the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN in a worldwide advertising campaign.
Jacob Elordi – TAG Heuer
Announced as the newest ambassador for TAG Heuer Monaco timepieces this May, Jacob Elordi is a fresh face on the scene of watch ambassadors after rising to fame in HBO’s acclaimed smash hit Euphoria. The show follows a group of high school students as they navigate love and friendships in an adolescent world dictated by social media, with Elordi portraying the seemingly typical, popular high-school star quarterback.
The BAFTA-nominated show has been on everyone’s lips this 2022, and, with Elordi an ethusiast of the Swiss luxury watch brand, he was the perfect match to be the face of the TAG Heuer Monaco. Indeed, both the timepiece and Elordi are bold and iconic.
We are incredibly excited to announce Jacob Elordi as ambassador for the TAG Heuer Monaco. He is the stand-out star of a new generation. An artist who is unafraid to take risks, taking roles that challenge both himself and the audience. He is also someone who comes fully-formed with his own strong sense of timeless style. The TAG Heuer Monaco became the watch for a new generation when it was first launched in 1969, and there is no better standard-bearer for it as it continues to be discovered anew by each generation since. TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault
Regé-Jean Page – Longines
Few in recent years have had such a meteoric rise to fame as Regé-Jean Page has since Bridgerton arrived on our screens back in 2020. To say it was a hit would be an understatement: in the first month of airing on Netflix, the show clocked up 625 million hours watched.
The Duke of Hastings – portrayed by Page – was a huge pull in these figures, and the then 31-year-old was suddenly thrust into the limelight after years of minor roles in other productions.
Known very quickly for his effortless sense of style, Longines announced Page to be its newest ‘Ambassador of Elegance’ in September of 2021. ‘It’s simple, really. Longines makes such beautiful watches. There is something very special about being able to work with things that bring beauty to the world.’ Page told of his excitement of working with the brand.
Recently starring in ‘The Gray Man’ on Netflix, Page’s career is still only really just beginning.
David Beckham – TUDOR
Just last month, David Beckham rearranged a family holiday to see the launch of the new TUDOR Ranger collection: the partnership – one forged and announced back in 2017 - is built on a genuine love for the brand.
Beckham may have laced up his boots and retired from football back in 2013, but his status as cultural icon is cemented long past the game. Counting hundreds of millions of fans around the world, Beckham is a model, an actor and now the owner of Inter Miami CF.
His collection of TUDOR watches is almost as great as his footballing career, but Beckham recently disclosed that the Pelagos was his go-to watch, thanks to its supreme versatility.
Ryan Gosling – TAG Heuer
Ryan Gosling was announced as an ambassador for TAG Heuer in 2021, as the brand unveiled their new Three Hand Carrera model. Whilst only 41 years old, Gosling is somewhat of a veteran on Hollywood soil: his CV is impressive and has earned him a Golden Globe, BAFTA, and multiple Academy Awards.
This 2022, Gosling starred in the Netflix hit ‘The Gray Man’, a thriller that follows the story of the shady CIA agent Sierra Six – portrayed by Ryan Gosling – who, once released from prison, accidentally uncovers dark agency secrets and flees undercover on the run. On his wrist in this action-packed thriller? A TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands.
The film has become a global phenomenon – despite only premiering in July – and firmly puts Ryan Gosling in the spotlight once again (if you can say he ever left). His attributes compliment the partnership with TAG Heuer entirely: a willingness to be fearless, a drive to constantly challenge himself, and a dream to push what’s possible.
Unsurprisingly, Gosling names the TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands as his favourite timepiece to sport. It works for every occasion - whether that’s in a multi-million dollar blockbuster film, or for a quiet family dinner.
